NITEC IN SERVICE SKILLS (OFFICE)

This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to perform a range of administrative tasks to support the operational effectiveness and efficiency of an organisation.

Course Entry Requirement
√ 3 GCE ‘N’ Levels (Grade 1 to 5 in English and any 2 other subjects); or
√ 2 GCE ‘O’ Levels (Grade 1 to 8 in any 2 subjects); or
√ Passed ITE Entrance Test for Nitec in Service Skills (Office).

BUSINESS EVENT ORGANISATION
o Prepare for an event
o Prepare event proposal
o Prepare timeline chart
o Prepare event budget
o Make bookings for an event
o Prepare programme schedule
o Handle invitations and registrations for event
o Prepare event materials – Attendance list, Identification tags, Door gifts, Programme schedule, Course materials
o Coordinate set-up of event
o Register participants at event venue
o Obtain feedback on event
o Prepare post event evaluation
PRINCIPLES OF OFFICE ADMINISTRATION
o Prepare sales and purchasing documents – Purchase requisition, Purchase order, Quotation, Delivery order
o Prepare documents for billing and collection of payment – Invoice, Payment voucher, Receipt, Cheques
o Manage office supplies
o Process incoming mail
o Process outgoing mail
o Record petty cash payment and vouchers
o Manage filing system
o Arrange meetings
o Attend to visitors at the reception
o Make travel arrangements for overseas trip

o Maintain 3-column cash book

o Prepare bank reconciliation statement
o Prepare simple trading, profit and loss accounts for a sole proprietorship (in T-format)
o Prepare balance sheet for a sole proprietorship (in T-format)
o Record business transactions using an accounting software package
